There is no glaze on this 10" beautifully marbled raku vase, which is why it's called naked raku. Hand thrown on the pottery wheel, this vase was then burnished smooth. The marbled raku pottery design is from a clay slip resist and smoke fired raku process called Naked Raku. A clay slip is fired over top of these pots and as it cracks off, the smoke colors the clay body through the cracks. Producing a truly unique marbled design that could never be duplicated. The marbled naked raku pottery vase is then burnished a buffed again to be very smooth and soft.
As with all raku pottery, it is not recomended to hold water for long periods of time.
This naked raku vase, like everything here in our shop has been handmade by husband and wife potters JR and Kristen Page in Burnsville North Carolina.
Made to order may take 3-6 weeks to complete.
