This unusual trio of fiery raku pottery vases has truly incredible colors that the photos just don't do justice. The brilliant colors and organic designs on this pottery are from a sager raku technique we have been working on for years. Freshly picked ferns and mosses are transferred directly onto each piece, preserving the image in a way that is impossible to reproduce. These organic looking raku pottery vases are the result of our exploration in a medium with endless possibilities.
Each piece was wheel thrown This decorative raku vase was fired to 1800 degrees then removed from the kiln while red hot to create the lively color variations. You can see where the flame kisses and fumes each piece of pottery.
The tallest raku vase measures 11" the medium 6" and the smallest 3".
As with any raku you want to keep it out of direct sunlight and know that it is not vitrified, so they are not suitable to hold water.
All of our pottery here has been handmade by husband and wife potters J.R. and Kristen Page in Burnsville North Carolina.
